Finland Convention Bureau (FCB) has initiated a pilot project to draw up guidelines for environmentally responsible meeting services. The town of Hämeenlinna, an FCB member, will serve as the model city for the project. FCB has commissioned Finnish consulting company Travelcon Oy, which supplies sustainable development solutions to the travel industry, to implement the project.

According to a congress survey carried out in 2007, the travel income for the Helsinki Region from congresses amounted to approximately 47 million euros, which includes spending by both congress organisers and delegates.
